Working mainly from our offices in Wooburn Green, our ideal assistant would be a bright all-rounder with who’s enthusiastic about all Web-related technologies. He or she will have an eagle eye for detail and ability to manage their time well under pressure. The role includes…

• Updating Web pages using text editor and clients ‘content management systems’
• Checking the links on clients’ Websites – some of them in multiple languages – and correcting them where necessary
• Running reports from Search Engine Optimisation software and Google Analytics

Your skill and experience should include some of the following…

• HTML. XHTML and XML
• WordPress
• MS Office applications, especially Excel
• SEO software such as WebCEO or Google Webmaster
• Web analytics e.g. with WebTrends, Google Analytics, Webalizer, Urchin
• Social networking: especially Twitter, LinkedIn
• Good standard of written English – other languages an advantage (especially German, Italian, French)

Working from home, you’ll be scanning the site, checking the links to third-party Web shops, and letting us know if any pages have moved or gone missing. In addition, you’ll be scanning the reseller sites to see which of our client’s products these sites have added to their portfolio or are out-of-stock. All the updates need to be entered on a MS Excel spreadsheet.

With around 800 links to check and 150 e-shops to research (in 30-plus  countries) , we reckon it could take up to four working days to complete. Initially, this is a one-off task, but we’re confident that it will become a regular, once-a-week routine for the right person.

What we’re looking for

The role will probably suit a student or home worker who’s looking for regular work with flexible hours. You’ll need to be meticulous and organised, with a keen eye for detail and a nose for research. We’d expect the following demonstrable skills and experience…

• Basic IT and Web skills
• A decent Internet connection
• Experience with Microsoft Excel
• Ideally, language skills or at least the ability to use Google Translate (or similar)

We’ll brief you on the products, but if you’re already familiar with the document  scanners market, that would be great, too.

There may be opportunities to expand the role into researching new resellers for our client’s products, so any experience in sales and marketing would be an advantage, especially in relation to PC peripherals for small office/home user markets.

Build on the WordPress content management system, it will be updated more frequently and feature a growing library of up-to-the-minute material on business-to-business marketing, social media.

In addition, the site is re-designed for optimal viewing on mobile devices such as iPad/iPhone, Android and Symbian.

For clients, there is a new project management system as an integral part of our Website. Shortly we’ll be linking it to Cloud services like DropBox, Evernote and Google apps, enabling us to to offer even better service and more responsive client management.
