| IN PRINT: SEE THE WORLD AS OTHERS SEE YOU |
|
1 December 2005: Carino Communications managing director Andy Wright has been commissioned by the Institution of Electrical Engineers' Engineering Management magazine to write an article explaining the importance of web accessibility to its readers.
The article, headlined See the world as others see you, explains how managers must take e-communications seriously by designing their websites to take into account the needs of groups such as the partially-sighted, people with colour blindness, and sufferers of dyslexia.
He also explains the important role of non-human visitors such as search engine spiders.
Topics covered in the article, which appears in volume 15, issue six of the magazine (the December/January 2005/2006 issue) include:
- How the management community needs to understand issues such as security, accessibility, usability and findability
- How security measures such as spam filters affect your ability to communicate with your customers
- Issues that might affect whether users can view your site, and how failing to address them could cost you business
- Actions you can take to improve your site's accessibility
- Why non-human visitors are important, and how they work
